Why write something when Jen Robinson already wrote something way better then I ever could? High-five to Jen for the good find.

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Wheel - My Hanging Surrender

I caught the last few songs performed by Nathaniel Rateliff & The Wheel at the Brooklyn Vegan showcase last night. I’d never heard of them and had to ask someone the band name. They were amazing. Nathanial Rateliff looks and sounds a little like Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit. His vocals are deep and clear. The band’s instrumentation is detailed, and with a piano/organ, hollow body & acoustic guitars, drums, and stand-up bass, their sound is huge and rich.

One of my favorite music experiences is stumbling on something I love instantly. This was a great way to kick off CMJ.
