Have the latest version of Sarafi? Use Tumblr? Then I highly suggest you get this. This looks way awesome and I’ll be looking into it tonight. This was made by the very intelligent jeffrock who also built the Tumblr iPhone app I believe.

I’m a huge music-nerd and a huge nerd-nerd so I wrote a Safari Extension that allows you to listen to your the music in your Dashboard, iTunes style.

Features:

Transport controls. Play, pause, next and previous track.

Liking. You can like and unlike right from the transport controls.

Reblogging. Love a track? Put it on your blog.

View original post. Clicking the track name opens a new tab and loads the post that the track originated from.

Autoload. When you get to the end of the tracklist Dashboard Radio gets the next set and keeps the music playing.

I completely forgot about this song for a really long time, I had it in my drafts section with no text, just the audio file. Luckily, I remembered I had it in there and I get to share it with you.

With such an infectious vocal part by the very eccentric Brit with Banhart-type iconic hair, a driving piano part accompanied with a simple clickty-clacking of drum sticks it is hard not to tap your foot.

Reblogging solely because of the cover art. I haven’t even listened to it yet. The cover art alone is numero uno. You can go ahead and assume the tracks featured are numero uno also. Mark’s mixes are always solid.

This has been a busy summer. As I’ve built this mix over the past month, reconsidering it, pondering it, I’ve swapped songs in and out, never quite finding ‘the moment’ when it all came together. I think it was the new Deerhunter song that did it for me. A kind of anchor. We all need anchors in our lives, don’t we? A kind of benchmark to see how far we’ve come. I hope you’re all finding anchors of your own this summer.

Do me a favor and click through on the links to learn more about these bands. Many of them are putting out music completely independently and would love the support. Many also offer free music, so if you dig a track a lot, why not check out some of their other work. Best yet, buy their records, artwork, merch and tickets to their shows. Support indie artists.

Jordan was kind enough to tip me off to his free-floating, dreamy folk music. I would assume L.A. native with rather rustic vocals and adventurous music has a new album or EP in the works since the songz he sent cannot be found on his bancamp site, but I recommend you can buy his EP Despistado there, it’s awesome. I expect big things from this kid in the near future if things aren’t already in the works.

Daniel an eccentric dude out of Detroit that makes pop songs that sounds from sounds that bring memories of Grizzly Bear to Beck to hip-hop and then to a “less-depressed Elliot Smith” as said by Detroit Weekly.

You can donate to this project over at IndieGoGo, they’re looking to raise $20,000 in the next 119 days, and their up to $625 right now. I honestly don’t know anything about Wise Blood. This lofi jam sounds almost as if it was recorded live with the vocals being rushed out like a rant. From what I can tell it looks like some fine analog sampling.

The best I can do is direct you to their to their EP titled ’ + ’ which is to be downloaded for free off their Bandcamp

It consists of other worthy lofi jams.

Department of Eagles - While We’re Young

Department of Eagles just released their archival record out yesterday. Short back story to this is a new compilation simply named “Archives 2003-2006”, which features song from years before they recorded their 2008 album “In Ear Park”, which is a favorite of mine. While listening to this and other previews, it makes me wonder the thought process to what makes the cut and what doesn’t. THis song is rather brilliant.

If you’re in the US you can pick up the album online through American Dust. For everyone else outside the US you can order it with Bella Union.

EDIT: By the way if you didn’t know Daniel Rossen is a guitarist, vocalist and songwriter in Grizzly Bear.
