I’ve posted another track before by the lovely Ms. Barwick but after listen to her album Florine for the last couple weeks I cannot get enough of this track. I shared it with my new “online friend” Maura (http://texturism.tumblr.com/) but I felt like I should share with everyone else too.

Here is a collection of new jams from a handful of bands I have been digging lately and writing about. The tracks are mostly new and, for the most part, very local.

Another new track from pals GOBBLE GOBBLE, this one pumps up the techno.

6. Truman Peyote - Kartwheels
Rad jam from Truman Peyote’s upcoming split with Many Mansions on Whitehaus.

7. Many Mansions - Sparkly Portal
Lighter-than-air track off of said split. Put your headphones on and take flight.

8. Tropical Depression - Miniature Mountains
Found this track thanks to FMLY. Airy grooves from the west coast.

9. Philip Seymour Hoffman - Everything In My Cupboards Is Moldy
Like the actor, only way better. 80% more R.L. Stein also.

10. PPALMM - Acid Cops
Killer track from PPALMM off Breakfast of Champs’ Mozart Family All-Stars comp.

11. Girlfriends - I Was Here But I Disappear
New track from Girlfriends’ amazing self-titled debut cassette on Floating Garbage Continent. For the record I called it “gritty” way before the Herald ever did.

12. Golden Girls - Amateur Teen Sex Attics
More wonderful noise coming from wormtown. Makes me miss the Common Fashion Outlets.

13. The Great Valley - Lucky Me!
New track from friends The Great Valley off of their 7” Holiday, Holinight on Spooky Town.

14. Boy Without God - City Kids
Boston songwriter, beautiful track.

15. Quilt - False Eto
This track sounds like it’s emerging from a cloud of smoke in another world to me.

16. Psychedelic Family - Black Horse Knight Rider (Live)
Epic. Put on repeat for days.

Sun Hotel - Honey

Usually “Honey” is a term of endearment. Frankly I love I that referenced when used in the proper context. However, according to what I gather from the lyrics of this song, it seems like it’s sadly about divorce. Nevermind the fact when this New Orleans band sent me their concept EP “Team Spirit” they described it as an album “about love and early divorce”.

Taken By Trees - Anna (feat Noah Lennox)

Seems like all of a sudden today this track is being featured on a lot of “bigger” blogs but whateves. This is one of the female artists that crush on real hard. Lovely musician with an equally if not lovelier voice. Also, you’ll notice that Noah Lennox aka Panda Bear aka one of the bros from Animal Collective, is singing back up on this track.

I highly suggest you pick up her album East of Eden. And if you have a chance go see her live she’s on tour with El Perro Del Mar

One of my favorite songs off the album, besides Ambling Alp.

So my MP3s came from Insound the other day for my vinyl pre-order of Yeasayer’s new album Odd Blood, and I’ve been listening to it off and on for the past couple days. Wow is it a departure from their first album All Hour Cymbals. If I had to put it into an analogy of sound, think of it like this. On All Hour Cymbals you had tracks like Sunrise and 2080 which sounded like you were out in the African bush, say Kenya. Now Odd Blood sounds like they traveled from the rural plains of Kenya and traveled North to Egypt and found themselves in the busy city of Cairo then found some electronics and drugs.

Now you maybe thinking to you self that I’m gonna say this album is bad. It’s quite the opposite. It’s great, different but awesome. I’m really looking forward to seeing them live in April. Due note it did take me several listens to really get into it.
